Afghan Special Forces destroy dozens of heavy machine guns, rockets, IEDs in Uruzgan
The Afghan Special Forces have destroyed dozens of heavy machine guns, rockets, Improvise Explosive Devices, and other explosives during an operation in southern Uruzgan province.
Informed military sources said Monday that the weapons and explosives were destroyed in Tarin Kot city, the provincial capital of Uruzgan province.
“Afghan Special Forces conducted an operation in Tarin Kot district of Uruzgan province and destroyed a large IED and weapons cache which included 16 pressure plate IEDs, 2 suicide vests, 12 rockets with boosters and 161 DShk machine guns,” the sources added.
The anti-government armed militants including Taliban have not commented regarding the airstrike so far.
Uruzgan is among the relatively volatile provinces in South of Afghanistan. Taliban militants are active in some of the restive districts of the province including Tainkot and often attempt to carry out terrorist related activities against the government and security institutions.
