President Ghani declared National Day of mourning following the terrorist attack in Kabul

Kabul- President Ashraf Ghani has declared National Day of mourning following the deadly attack in capital Kabul earlier this evening that claimed scores of people dead or wounded.

The Presidential Palace in a Twitter message said President Ghani has declared Wednesday, a National Day of mourning and termed this heinous act of terrorism an attack on Islamic values and followers of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

“It is an attack on humanity,” President Ghani said.

The Twitter message further added that the National Flag will be flown at half mast across the country and in all diplomatic missions abroad on Wednesday.

Condemning the unpleasant incident, President Ghani has sent his thoughts and condolences to the bereaved families of victims and directed the government institutions to use every possible mean for the cure of the wounded.

Calling the attack a move against the Islamic values and humanity, President Ghani said Prophet Mohammad had always preached for brotherhood and prevention of bloodshed but the savage terrorists once again acted against the instructions of Prophet Mohammad with this evening’s attack and shed blood of innocent people.

According to media reports, citing security sources at least 43 people have died and more than 80 others have sustained injuries in the attack.

A large number of Kabul-based ambassadors, including the US Ambassador and UNAMA have condemned the terrorist attack on peaceful event of religious clerics and extended their thoughts to the government and bereaved families.
