Taliban group claims responsibility for coordinated suicide attack in Kabul city
The Taliban group claimed responsibility for the coordinated suicide attack in Kabul city.
Taliban’s spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid claimed in a statement that the militants of the group detonated a car bomb close to Logistics and Engineering Center of Ministry of Defense.
He also claimed that a number of militants launched gun attack after the explosion inflicting heavy casualties on security forces.
However, the security and defense officials said the militants failed to intrude into the logistics department of the defense ministry.
The ministry of interior spokesman Nasrat Rahimi had earlier said a group of militants detonated a car bomb in Pul-e-Mahmod Khan area.
Rahimi further added that some militants took position inside a compound close to the explosion following the blast.
He also added that the security forces cordoned off the area and launched an operation to eliminate the remaining militants.
Meanwhile, the public health officials are saying that the rescue workers have shifted 65 people including 9 children to hospitals from the site of explosion.
On the other hand, unconfirmed reports indicate that explosion has killed dozens of people and wounded more than 50 others.
