Taliban militants suffer casualties in Kandahar, Uruzgan operations
The Afghan security forces carried out separate operations in southern Kandahar and Uruzgan provinces inflicting casualties on Taliban militants.
The 205th Atal Corps of the Afghan Military in a statement said the 1st Brigade of 205th Army Corps carried out artillery strikes in Shahwali Kot of Kandahar.
The statement further added that the artillery strikes left two Taliban militants dead and three others wounded.
Similarly, the 4th Brigade of 205th Atal Army Corps conducted mortar strikes in Uruzgan province killing 3 Taliban militants.
The operation was conducted in Khas Uruzgan district of the province, the 205th Atal Corps said.
The 205th Atal Corps also added that the mortar strikes also wounded nine Taliban fighters.
The security forces also destroyed two motorcycles and a vehicle during the same operation.
Both Kandahar and Uruzgan are among the relatively volatile provinces in the South. Taliban militants are active in remote and restive areas of the two provinces.
In the meantime, the Afghan forces are busy conducting counter-terrorism operations against the anti-government armed groups in the two province.
Similarly, the U.S. forces also conduct regular airstrikes in restive parts of the country to suppress Taliban and other anti-government militants.
